Whether writing the lyrics for such legendary shows as West Side Story and Gypsy, or putting the smartest words on Broadway to his own unforgettably stylish tunes, Stephen Sondheim is the undisputed king of the American musical.
Fellow New Yorker Carl Davis leads this 80th birthday tribute, a musical journey through Sondheim's career and the works which he worked on, including Send in the Clowns, and songs from the whole of a great career. Expect hits from A Little Night Music, Gypsy and Sweeney Todd in an evening as sophisticated, as satisfying and as wickedly enjoyable as a Manhattan on the rocks.
Competition closes on 2 April 2010
